Edit photos without a subscription on Windows
Own BeforeEdit for Windows, edit photos with layers and masks, and keep editable projects. Compare one-time access with a subscription and plan your exports.
Updated October 4, 2026.
Choose ownership for the way you work
BeforeEdit offers one-time ownership and Creative subscription access to the same editing features. An owned license supports offline use after activation; subscription access refreshes online. The owned offer includes version 1.x updates.
Install through GLTX Hub and check the current owned-license offer and terms before buying. Ownership is an access choice, not a promise that every future major version is included.
Build an edit you can revisit
Open your image, keep the original layer and make changes with additional layers, masks and adjustments. Separate the subject, background and text when the job needs independent edits. Use undo and redo to compare changes while you work.
Save a .bephoto project as the editable master, then close and reopen it to check the layers. BeforeEdit's recovery copy helps after an interrupted session; keep your own project backup as well.
Deliver an image, keep the master
Export the format your project needs and inspect it in the destination application. PNG is useful for transparent raster artwork. PSD exchange is useful for supported layers, but does not promise lossless round-tripping of every Photoshop feature.
Keep the original Photoshop file if a client relies on its smart objects, specific effects or vector shapes. Choose the editor against that actual delivery requirement.
Add pixel art or a local agent when needed
BeforeEdit also has a dedicated pixel workspace with frames, onion skin and per-frame timing. Keep a .bepixel project and deliver PNG frames, a sprite sheet, GIF or APNG as appropriate.
The released local MCP companion gives a compatible agent tools for layers, pixel art and exports. Use a dedicated allowed folder and review the editable output. The next update adds live editing of the open desktop photo document; its preview is linked below.
What arrives with the next update
The announced update adds local selection and removal after model downloads, editable design templates, expanded outputs, and color and print tools. It is implemented in development and comes to customers in the next release.
You can read the complete preview on the product page. Current download and setup instructions describe the released editor, so an upcoming feature is not a required step in this workflow.
