BeforeEdit vs Photoshop.

Choose for the work you need to finish.
This comparison is written by Galactrex, the maker of BeforeEdit. It covers released features, rather than our upcoming work. We have not run a controlled speed or image-quality benchmark between the two apps.

An editor you can own

BeforeEdit offers one-time ownership alongside Creative subscriptions, with the same editing features. An owned license supports offline use after activation. Adobe offers the current Photoshop through a subscription, without an outright purchase option.Edit photos without a subscriptionAdobe's current Photoshop plans

Where BeforeEdit fits

Consider BeforeEdit when you want a Windows editor with a bundled local MCP companion, a separate pixel-art workspace and an owned-license option. Your agent can build layers and sprites, then keep an editable native master alongside rendered exports.See the actual local MCP setup

Where Photoshop fits

If a client requires a Photoshop document with smart objects, specific effects or editable Photoshop vector shapes, keep that work in Photoshop and validate the delivery there. BeforeEdit does not guarantee a lossless round-trip for every PSD feature.Photoshop also has automation: Adobe documents UXP scripts and plugins. The useful comparison is the setup and tools your workflow needs, rather than a claim that only one app can be automated.

What the next BeforeEdit update adds

Local subject and object selection, background removal with editable masks, selected-area removal, more design and export tools, color and print workflows, and live MCP editing of the desktop photo document. These additions are implemented in development and arrive with the next customer release.MCP connects your agent to editor tools. You direct the work and receive editable layers, shapes and text that you can change yourself. Keep the native project as your master and choose the exports you need.Local image processing runs on the computer after the required model downloads. This is a concrete BeforeEdit workflow, rather than a claim that all Photoshop editing requires cloud processing or that every print workflow has full parity.See the complete update preview

Try a real delivery file

Choose one representative image or sprite. Build it, save it, reopen it and export the format your client needs. Check editable layers, transparency and animation timing in the destination app. That tells you more than a feature count.BeforeEdit features and accessInstall through GLTX Hub
