Moniswitch vs ControlMyMonitor

Both switch a monitor's input from Windows over DDC/CI, and both are free. ControlMyMonitor controls any monitor setting from a table or a command line. Moniswitch does one job: it saves input routes, puts them on a shortcut and takes the keyboard and mouse along to the other computer.

Same command, different tool

Switching an input is one MCCS command, VCP 0x60, sent to the monitor. ControlMyMonitor exposes that command and every other one the monitor reports. You find the value for each input and send it, for example from a batch file.Moniswitch reads the inputs each monitor reports and lists them by name. Press Scan, pick an input, press Route. Save a route for several monitors at once, or put two inputs on one shortcut and switch between them. Both rely on DDC/CI. Turn it on in the monitor's own menu, and keep a direct connection: some docks, adapters, capture devices and hardware KVMs block the commands. No software can show an input that has no signal behind it.

The keyboard is the other half

Changing the picture is half of switching computers. Moniswitch's optional Input Link carries the keyboard and mouse to a Linux PC (through Deskflow or Waynergy) or to a Mac (through Deskflow, experimental), so both move on the same shortcut. It stays separate from display routing: if the link fails, the monitors still switch.ControlMyMonitor does not share a keyboard or mouse. That is not its job.
