Make a lyric video without uploading your song

Make your lyric video before your song comes out. Afterimage times and renders it in your browser, so the song never leaves your computer.

Make your lyric video before your song comes out

Most online lyric video makers ask you to upload the song. Specterr renders on its servers; Kapwing is a cloud editor. For a song that is not out yet, that means a copy of it on someone else's computer.

Afterimage works in your browser. It reads the song, shows the preview and renders the video on your own computer. The song is never uploaded.

Try it first

The Afterimage page has a live demo: press play on the song and watch the lyrics move with it. Then sign in with a Galactrex account to make your own.

Step by step

Open Afterimage and choose your song: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC or FLAC. Paste the exact lyrics, or import an LRC or SRT file that already has the times.

Afterimage does not listen for the words. With plain lyrics, play the song and press Space as each line starts. The words in a line are spread across it. Fix any line that is early or late.

Pick one of the six visual systems and choose 9:16 for Shorts and Reels, 16:9 for YouTube or 1:1. Then render. You get an MP4, or a WebM if your browser cannot make MP4.

Free and Essential

Free with a Galactrex account: 5 minutes of rendered video in total, at 720p with no watermark. The 5 minutes do not refill. Essential renders full songs at 1080p.

Before you start

Use current Chrome or Edge. Rendering uses your computer, so a slow computer renders slowly. Working projects are deleted 24 hours after your last save, so save an .afterimage project copy if you want to come back to it. The copy includes the song, so keep it somewhere private.
